Bouldering Near Toowoomba

Where to Use Your Pad

Toowoomba sits within easy driving distance of some of Queensland's best bouldering. Here's what's on your doorstep.

Most Popular | ~100km from Toowoomba

White Rock

White Rock is a slab and hueco-heavy bouldering area with rock quality that's high by Queensland standards — often compared to Fontainebleau in style.

The park covers a large area with multiple sectors, many accessible by bike. It's a great spot if you're chasing technical slab movement or huecos.

Passchendaele State Forest

Passchendaele State Forest is Queensland's premier bouldering destination, located about 15 minutes outside Stanthorpe — roughly Xkm from Toowoomba.

The area features over 360 established granite problems across multiple sectors (Middle Sector, Engineering Sector, The Battlefield, and more), with grades spanning every level from beginner to V13. The forest setting keeps things cool and shaded, making it a great year-round destination. Camping is available nearby at Foxbar Falls, with toilets, showers, and BBQs.

A crash pad is essential at Passchendaele — many problems have uneven landings on granite slabs and boulders.

Donnelly's Castle

Donnelly's Castle is another Granite Belt favourite, sitting near Pozières on the Southern Downs about Xkm from Toowoomba.

The blocs are densely packed within 200m of the carpark — great for a half-day trip — with problems from V0 to V10+. BBQs, picnic benches, and toilets are on site. It's a community-managed reserve, so follow the access guidelines and stay on the designated areas.

A crash pad is strongly recommended, especially for the taller highball lines.
